Topic: Sports Car Resurgence in Australia.
December 3 & 4 will see the first step in a resurgence to bring Australia Sports Car racing back to its former glory. Winton Raceway will host the Australian Sports Car and Clubman Showdown, with the aim of launching a full 6 round series in the ever growing Victorian Motor Racing Championship in 2006 as well as other State based series including QLD and NSW.

This showdown takes place following a meeting at Calder Park last month that saw representatives from Sports Car manufactures such as Saker, Westfield, PRB, Minnetti, Future Racers, Elfin, Amaroo and Caternam as well as people such as competitors and others attended. The meeting declared its intentions to re-instate Sports car racing at all levels to its former glory.

“The meeting was an enormous success, people are lining up to be involved in the December Sports Car and Clubman Showdown.” said Winton Motor Raceway CEO Mick Ronke.

The Sports Car and Clubman Showdown has already seen some unique and interesting cars confirm their attendance such as Saker, Norax, Lotus and Lola as well as clubman’s from PRB, Westfield, Amaroo, Elfin and Caternam. Motorcycle engine based sports cars will be well represented with Radicals, Minetti, Mulsanne and Future Racers and Aussie Legends.

Vehicle eligibility is set around categories that typically meet 2A Sports cars, 2B Clubman’s, and 2C motorcycle engine sports cars as well as Groups M, N, O, P, Q and R Sports that have previously been eligible for 2A sports cars.
