The growth of the Victorian Motor Racing Series (VMRC) continues and this weekend at Winton will see the biggest round to date. The Series, which was formed between Calder Park and Winton Raceway under a myriad of controversy is shaping as the best value for money racing series in Australia.
Categories that will be on show for the August 6th & 7th event include · HQ Holdens · Under 2 Litre Sports Sedans · BMW E30’s · Sedans including Sports Sedans/Improved Production/Porsches & Auscars · Open Wheelers including Formula Ford’s & Formula Vees
This weekend marks Round 4 of the Series, which is being run under the auspices of the Australian Auto-Sport Alliance Inc.
There will be over 90 entries for the event. “It is very satisfying to see people supporting this concept. We were heavily criticised for starting the Series with many people saying it would not work, but the results are starting to prove that this Series is fast becoming one that people want to race in.” says Winton Motor Raceway Chief Executive Officer Michael Ronke.
The highlight of the weekend will be around 30 HQ’s lining up in what is there last run at the Winton circuit before the HQ Nationals on November 6th & 7th. This will certainly be a preliminary to the Nationals and competitors will be sizing each other up.
A good field of cars will also compete in the Under 2 Litre Sports Sedans and BMW E30 Championship. The E30 Championship in its second year as a stand-alone championship is certainly becoming a popular racing category on the race card.
There will be a total of 25 races over the weekend with Practice and Qualifying on Saturday 10 races and 15 races on the Sunday.
