Historic Motor Festival October 1 & 2 is
fast approaching and the plans for our Annual Historic Motor Festival are
progressing well. We have been working together now for close on 3 months to
organize a great package for all. Great racing, complemented by a genuine
festival atmosphere, giving authenticity to the title of the weekend.
There will be plenty of Historic Racing on display over the weekend. Some
of the racing that will be on display are Group C & A, Group N Historic
Touring Cars, Historic Sports Cars, Groups M,N,O,P,Q,R racing and sports as well
as Historic Formula Vee, Historic Formula Ford as well as the regularity
for Post & Pre War, and we are working on some new initiatives for Historic
racing for this weekend. Apart from the Historic Motor sport, Winton has
organized a plethora of attractions to interest all who attend. There are
already 70 Car Clubs and individuals registered for the “Car park Display,”
sponsored this year by the RACV, we also have added ‘Old & New’ Trucks,
Motor Bikes, 4WD Clubs and Jet Boats. ‘Wangaratta Motorsports Club’
have organized a Vintage Speedway Meeting for the Saturday night, and many
competitors are either displaying in the Show n Shine or even competing with us
for the weekend. We will have displays from the Police, Fire, Ambulance, SES,
Military Vehicles, to name a few. There will be artists in residence including
air brush, computer, and caricature drawers. We will have wood workers, chainsaw
carvers and everything from Toy Makers to a great variety of gourmet food
vendors. There will be 9 different wineries on site for tasting and sales.
Part of the display will be a Micro light, Ultra light, and a glider. Flights
for you in a Micro light have been organized at turn 11 and 12 over the weekend.
There will be an Art Display with many pieces for sale in the Corporate Center.
Artists include Lorna Chick,(with works in the National Gallery in Canberra) and
around the country, Local photographer Hannah Mitchell, Motor Sport
Photographers Damien Petrie, David Williams & Neil Hammond have each entered
work along with Wangaratta Art Society and Benalla Camera Club & Tony Dewan.
A Historic Machinery Display is organized for both Saturday and Sunday and a
Vintage Tractor Pull as well on Sunday. This event will be held in the Cricket
Ground and be run by the Benalla & District Vintage Tractor Club, under the
guidelines of the N.H.M.A. We have organized a host of traders from V8
Merchandise & motorsport based products to Model Cars & Lavander
Products for the ladies . There will be model trains, RC Aircraft & Cars
As in the past there will be a Grand Parade for display cars and this year
while this is on there will be an Aerial Display, supplied by the RAAF Museum
Point Cook, on the Saturday and on Sunday a local WW2 Kittyhawk will supply the
display. If you have a interesting car or wish to compete contact Karl at Winton
on 03 57664235 or mob. 0407312414 or email karl@wintonraceway.com.auSome

The aim of the weekend is to continue to firmly establish not only the Historic
Motor Sport on the Racing Calendar, but to add the Festival to the North East of
Victoria as the largest weekend festival of the region. This will bring more
visitors to the area, and further enhance our standing within the local and
wider community. |
